On June 8, 2013, two super friendly dogs passed the American Kennel Club (AKC) Canine Good Citizen (CGC) test at Michigan Dog Training (MDT) LLC in Plymouth, Michigan. They prepared for the test by completing MDT’s CGC dog training class. Wendy Bemis, a Michigan Dog Training Dog Trainer taught the class and Michael Burkey, MDT’s Dog Behaviorist and President evaluated the dogs. The dogs and parents are:
1. Debra Green and Prince, a Pitt mix of Westland, Michigan
2. Laura Pawlusiak and Piper, a Beagle mix of Livonia, Michigan
According to the AKC, “The CGC Program is designed to reward dogs who have good manners at home and in the community. The Canine Good Citizen Program is a two-part program that stresses responsible pet ownership for owners and basic good manners for dogs. All dogs who pass the 10-step CGC test may receive a certificate from the American Kennel Club.” Additionally, the program is now a “Title” program and upon successful completion the initials “CGC” may be placed after the dogs’ names.
