I’m often asked what kind of dog collar do I prefer my dogs or client dogs wear for control and identification purposes. The answer is – martingale style collars made/sold by Wolf Packs. They are what all my dogs wear (note for puppies a nylon snap together collar is fine).
Wolf Packs collars are sturdy, effective, comfortable to wear, nice looking, and at a great price. The beauty of a martingale style collar is that it’s a limited slip collar. So when there is no pressure on the neck such as when the dog is off leash in the home, the collar rests loosely on the dog’s neck. However, if while on leash your dog tries to back out of the collar by putting his head down (because he doesn’t want to follow you somewhere), it will tighten slightly so he cannot escape out of the collar. And, because it’s a limited slip, it will not over tighten like a metal choke collar would do.
