October 2023 was a bustling month at Michigan Dog Training (MDT) as 15 adorable and well-behaved puppies strutted their stuff, passing the coveted Puppy S.T.A.R. evaluations conducted by none other than Michael Burkey, the esteemed owner of MDT and an AKC Puppy S.T.A.R. Evaluator.
The Puppy S.T.A.R. Triumph:
These energetic canines conquered the Puppy S.T.A.R. evaluations, where ‘S.T.A.R.’ stands for Socialization, Training, Activity, and (owner) Responsibility. These little prodigies, under the guidance of MDT, demonstrated their prowess by excelling in a variety of essential commands and social behaviors.
Key Achievements:
To earn their Puppy S.T.A.R. certificates, these pups showcased impeccable behavior, proving their mettle in vital skills such as remaining free of aggression towards people and fellow puppies, accepting collars or harnesses without a fuss, and even tolerating the sometimes tricky act of having treats or toys taken away.
Michael Burkey, with his experienced eye, also ensured that these pups were comfortable being hugged, held, and petted by their owners and other individuals. Walking on a leash, responding to commands like sitting, lying down, and coming when called were also part of the evaluation, and our furry friends aced these tests effortlessly.
