Gunner, a Basenji became a new dog after his owners Bob and Maria of Livonia, Michigan began working with him via in home dog training with Michael Burkey, a Michigan Professional Dog Trainer and Dog Behaviorist.
Gunner use to pull hard on a leash making walks impossible, lunge at passing cars, jump on people as they entered the house, and barge out doorways.  During weekly coaching sessions, Bob and Maria worked with Gunner teaching him to walk on a loose leash, not to lunge at cars, to sit and wait for Maria before being released to go outdoors, to sit for approaching strangers and to go to a predetermined place such as the stairs when guests come to the front door.
