chimney sweeper dog watch clockIt’s been a very exciting 2013 for Michigan Dog Training LLC and that is all because of you.  The big event for us was May 15, 2013 moving into our permanent location at 1031 Cherry Street, Plymouth, Michigan.  This allowed us to provide you with many more services such as:

  • Private training at our beautiful location
  • Helped a client and friend of MDT train her Diabetic Alert Dog
  • Enhanced our K9 Camp (board and train)
  • Day Camp (day training)
  • VIP Day Care
  • Boarding for our students as a special service
  • New group classes such Nosework and Puppy Manners
  • Built Michigan’s only 21 foot long Scent Detection Wall
  • Two seminar presenters were brought in – Andrew Ramsey for Nosework and Linda Cree for Diabetic Alert Dog
  • Professional photographs of clients and their dogs in front of our photography studio wall
  • On September 15, 2013 we increased our building size from 4000 square feet to 7000 square feet
  • Purchased agility equipment
  • Revamped our website to make it modern and easier to use
  • Increased our staff from 2 to 8 employees
  • Started our training academy for dog trainers
  • Michael Burkey was featured on WWJ Detroit Radio
  • Michael and his dog Kaboom shoot several scenes in a movie that is in mid production entitled, “Mr. Who?”

Looking back over the past year and really just the past 8 months, MDT has grown by leaps and bounds.  We’re very excited for what we will accomplish in 2014.  Some of the new items on the agenda include:

  • Adding value to our private training sessions by adding bonuses such as clients will be able to take group classes following their private sessions to practice their dog’s new manners amongst distractions of other dogs
  • Training additional Diabetic Alert Dogs as the need is great
  • Adding new fun group classes such as Agility, Fido Conditioning, Rally, and others
  • Offering dog socialization parties for clients and their dogs
  • Developing training DVDs and books
  • The Movie “Mr. Who?” in which Michael’s dog Kaboom has a crucial role is due to be released in the fall
  • and other really cool special events (we can’t disclose them yet but they are really cool)

So thank you one and all,  You make MDT great! It is a honor to serve you and your dog.  See you in 2014!
